Victoria Hay, Ph.D., is an editor, writer, and teacher of writing and editing, with an entrepreneurial cast of mind and broad experience as an educator and communicator. During her career as a writer and editor, she developed two new departments for Arizona Highways; published a prominent weekly newsletter for Phoenix Magazine and served as the monthly magazine’s business editor; and led a talent agency for writers, photographers, and graphic artists. Before founding The Copyeditor’s Desk, Victoria served as editor and publisher of Arizona State University’s Office for Scholarly Journals, where she managed a staff of four in preproduction services for six scholarly journals, ranging in subject matter from mathematical biosciences to medieval and Renaissance history. Her editorial track record includes innumerable trade and scholarly books and stints as business editor for Phoenix magazine and associate editor at Arizona Highways magazine. As an educator, she pioneered online instruction at Arizona State, founded a professional writing program for ASU’s West campus, and built and continues to teach an online course in magazine writing for Paradise Valley Community College. She has published three books, through Columbia University Press, Folger Shakespeare Library, and William Morrow. As the principal of The Copyeditor’s Desk, she has focused on technical and business editing.
In her capacity as director and president of The Copyeditor’s Desk, Inc., Victoria employs four contract editors, three Web and print graphic designers, and an experienced project manager in working for a wide variety of publishers, businesses, and individuals. Among the company’s consulting and editorial clients have been Central Arizona Project, the Arizona Bach Festival, Poisoned Pen Press, and United Blood Services, Inc. The Copyeditor’s Desk also operates, as an imprint, Plain & Simple Press, a micropublisher offering e-book and print publication services to our clients.
Tina Minchella is managing editor of Management and Organization Review, a prominent international journal of business management, sponsored by Arizona State University’s W. P. Carey School of Business and the Chinese government. At W. P. Carey, at Arizona State University’s Office for Scholarly Journals, and in various contract assignments, she has served as a project manager overseeing all aspects of acquisitions, peer review, copy flow, editing, proofreading, design, and printing.
Tina has a master’s degree in European history with an undergraduate degree in Russian language and literature from Arizona State University and is an alumna of the university’s renowned scholarly publishing program. In addition, she has extensive experience in employee training and restaurant management. She teaches communication and history for the University of Phoenix and for Rio Salado Community College.
Copyediting: A doctor of music with experience in music education and psychology.
Copyediting: A Ph.D. in public history, with a specialty in Southwestern American history.
Copyediting and Indexing: An experienced editor of scholarly and trade nonfiction, she has a master’s in English and a graduate certificate in scholarly publishing from Arizona State University.
E-book Design: An IT professional and former educator with a special interest in formatting content for publication as e-books.
A multi-award-winning book designer. Former art director for Arizona Highways, he is a fine artist with works displayed in several galleries in the Southwest.
A print and Web designer with more than thirty years of experience, experienced in working with studios, advertising agencies, and corporations as an artist, art director, illustrator, and design director.
