Victoria Hay, Ph.D.
Victoria Hay is an editor, writer, and teacher of writing and editing, with an entrepreneurial cast of mind and broad experience as an educator and communicator. During her career as a writer and editor, she developed two new departments for Arizona Highways; published a prominent weekly newsletter for Phoenix Magazine and served as the monthly magazine’s business editor; led a talent agency for writers, photographers, and graphic artists; and founded and directed an editorial office for Arizona State University unique in North America. As an educator, she pioneered online instruction at Arizona State, founded a professional writing program for ASU’s West campus, and built and continues to teach an online course for Paradise Valley Community College.
In her capacity as director and president of The Copyeditor’s Desk, Inc., Victoria employs two contract editors working for a wide variety of publishers, businesses, and individuals. Among the company’s consulting and editorial clients have been Central Arizona Project, the Arizona Bach Festival, 1106 Design, Poisoned Pen Press, and PDM Since 1885. The Copyeditor’s Desk also publishes Funny about Money, which has ranked among the top 100 personal finance blogs in the English language.
